Aylesbury's new homes
A sparkle clean is the final, detailed clean that gets a brand new home ready to live in. It removes the fine construction dust, protective film, stickers and marks that are still there on handover day. If you're moving into a new build around Aylesbury, there's a good chance you'll need one, because the town is growing fast.
- Kingsbrook, built by Barratt Redrow in partnership with the RSPB, is planned for 2,450 homes across three villages, with around 400 acres of green space.
- Berryfields, north-west of the town, and neighbouring Weedon Hill were planned for around 5,000 homes between them, served by Aylesbury Vale Parkway station.
- Hampden Fields, near Bedgrove, was given planning permission for 3,000 homes in 2021, with two primary schools and a new link road.
- Woodlands, south-east of the town by the A41, has permission for over 1,100 homes, and a partnership to deliver it was announced in April 2026.
Why a new build needs cleaning
Building work creates very fine dust from plaster, sanding and cutting. It drifts into every cupboard and settles on every ledge, and it keeps settling for days after the last trade leaves. Developers usually clean before handover, but it's a quick clean against a deadline, and new owners often find dusty cupboards, sticky labels, paint spots on glass and grit in the window tracks.
Cleaning properly before you unpack means you start in a home that's clean as well as new. It also helps you spot snags. Marks, scratches and scuffs are much easier to see on a clean surface, so you can report them to your developer.
What a sparkle clean covers
- Fine dust removed from every surface, top to bottom
- Inside every kitchen cupboard, drawer and wardrobe
- Stickers, labels and protective film removed, with residue cleaned off
- Paint and plaster spots removed from glass, tiles and fittings where safe
- Sanitaryware, taps and showers cleaned and polished
- Skirting boards, door frames, sockets and switches wiped
- Inside windows, frames, sills and door tracks
- Floors vacuumed and mopped, often twice to lift all the dust
When to book it
The best time is after you get the keys and before your furniture arrives. Empty rooms are faster and easier to clean thoroughly, and you won't be moving boxes around the cleaners. If you're moving in on the day of completion, a clean in the first week still makes a big difference, starting with the kitchen and bathrooms.
